About Selera Mangkunegoro

During the colonial era, foreign cultural influences from European, Indian and Chinese, had clearly adopted and influenced each culture of the Archipelago. One of those that was clearly affected was culinary, with the popularity of rijsttafel in the 19th century. In Surakarta, which has two palaces in particular, dishes that originate from gradual culinary acculturation to Western culture are already very well known by the Javanese people and have become a culinary attraction for Surakarta tourism today. This study aims to introduce the history of Indonesian gastronomy and Javanese culture acculturated with the Dutch through augmented reality photo stories. The perspective and data were taken using a descriptive qualitative approach from the Mangkunegaran Duchy, one of the palaces in Surakarta which is famous for its fame and cultural richness until now. The photo story design tries to apply two-dimensional food photography with augmented reality technology which makes it more lively and interactive, with the hope that the audience who sees and reads it will be interested in tasting culinary delights and getting to know the story behind it.
